Bambu PPA-CF is a carbon-fibre reinforced semi-aromatic nylon filament from Bambu Lab for engineering parts that must stay stiff in humid or hot conditions, with a heat deflection temperature of 227 °C at 0.45 MPa.
Bambu PPA-CF is a carbon-fibre reinforced semi-aromatic nylon filament from Bambu Lab for engineering parts that must stay stiff in humid or hot conditions, with a heat deflection temperature of 227 °C at 0.45 MPa.
It is very stiff in the print plane, with an X-Y tensile strength of 168 MPa, though strength across layers (Z) is much lower, at 57 MPa. Printing needs a hot nozzle, a heated chamber and thorough drying.
Typical values from the Bambu Lab data sheet (V1.0), printed on an X1C at 290 °C nozzle, 110 °C bed, 52 °C chamber and 100% infill.
| Property | Typical value | Test method |
|---|---|---|
| Tensile strength (X-Y) | 168 ± 4 MPa | ISO 527 |
| Tensile strength (Z) | 57 ± 5 MPa | ISO 527 |
| Young's modulus (X-Y) | 11,800 ± 670 MPa | ISO 527 |
| Young's modulus (Z) | 4,300 ± 340 MPa | ISO 527 |
| Breaking elongation (X-Y) | 3.2 ± 0.4% | ISO 527 |
| Bending strength (X-Y) | 208 ± 6 MPa | ISO 178 |
| Bending modulus (X-Y) | 9,860 ± 480 MPa | ISO 178 |
| Impact strength (X-Y) | 41.7 ± 2.8 kJ/m² | ISO 179 |
| Heat deflection temperature at 1.8 MPa | 196 °C | ISO 75 |
| Heat deflection temperature at 0.45 MPa | 227 °C | ISO 75 |
| Melting temperature | 258 °C | DSC |
| Density | 1.25 g/cm³ | ISO 1183 |
| Saturated water absorption | 1.30% | 25 °C, 55% RH |
Nozzle 280 to 310 °C, bed 100 to 120 °C, chamber 50 to 80 °C. Dry at 100 to 140 °C for 8 to 12 hours. Bambu recommends a 0.6 mm nozzle.
