Rapid Prototyping Questions, Answered

Short answers on how Complete Fabrication works. If yours is not here, call +44 1223 836837 or email Info@compfab.co.uk.

What does Complete Fabrication do?

Complete Fabrication makes prototypes and low-volume parts using SLA and Carbon DLS 3D printing, CNC machining, vacuum casting, painting and finishing. It has traded from Whittlesford, near Cambridge, since 1986.

How fast can I get SLA parts?

SLA parts are ready in 24 hours as standard, with no rush fee. Most jobs can be delivered next day.

How fast will I get a quote?

We quote fast. If you need a quote quickly, let us know and we will do our best to match your timings.

What are the delivery options?

Same day delivery to the local area, overnight delivery across the UK, or collection from the workshop.

What tolerances can you hold?

SLA parts hold ±0.15 mm. Vacuum casting holds ±0.5 mm on most dimensions. CNC machining tolerances depend on the part and are agreed at quote.

What is the difference between SLA and Carbon DLS?

SLA gives the finest detail and the best surface for painting, plating and clear parts. Carbon DLS gives isotropic, injection-moulding-like strength for functional and end-use parts.

Do you work under NDA?

Yes. Strict confidentiality is standard, and we can build SOPs and technical agreements into the workflow.

Do you supply certificates?

Yes. Certificates of Conformity for manufacture and materials are supplied as standard when you ask at the quote stage.

Can you make small production runs?

Yes. Vacuum casting suits batches of 10 to 50 and runs in the low hundreds, and Carbon DLS can produce one to one thousand parts without tooling.

Can you finish and paint parts?

Yes. We bead blast, polish, paint, plate, print and label parts in house, and can supply packaging and protective cases.

What certifications do you hold?

ISO 9001 (certificate 7774, ISOQAR, UKAS).

Can I visit the workshop?

Yes. We are a two-minute walk from Whittlesford Parkway station, and we also visit clients across the UK with physical samples.
