The maker of the dashboard assembly for the BMW Mini was getting high rejection numbers. The problem was positioning an anti-squeak tape on the dashboard cowling, so they asked us to design jigs to fix it.
We designed an assembly station for two operators. The cowlings sit in GRP nests lined with green baize to protect the A-surfaces. The frame is welded mild steel section, with spools to carry the tape.
With the jig in use, production reached a 100% pass rate.
