Wright Design wanted to show potential investors their new Blackfin push-to-talk handset. They needed a model that looked, weighed and felt like the finished product.
Our CAD engineers split the design into separate components so each colour could be painted on its own part, giving the cleanest possible transition from one colour to the next. At the same stage we built in an internal cavity, which was later filled to bring the model up to the target weight.

We built the parts in SLA at high resolution. Our model makers then hand finished and painted them, and we CNC machined the screen from acrylic.
The result was a sharp, detailed block model at the correct weight, with the feel of the intended rubber-coated product, and at the cost of a block model rather than a working prototype.
